VfB Stuttgart is welcoming Bayer Leverkusen to Mercedes Benz Arena in round 5 of the German Bundesliga. Stuttgart is struggling with consistency at the moment, but I think their luck will turn around soon. Leverkusen has been on absolute fire this season, and they have scored impressive 12 goals already.
Stuttgart has won 2 of their last 5 games, but their defense hasn’t been that good as of late. Stuttgart was playing against Eintracht last weekend, and they have had 42% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and only 68% of the correct passes. This was a back-and-forth game, both teams have had a few decent chances, but Stuttgart has conceded a goal first, in the 79th minute. In the 82nd minute, Stuttgart has conceded a red card as well. In the 88th minute, Stuttgart has tied the score, and they were incredibly lucky in the last minute. The final score was 1-1. The biggest problem for Stuttgart at the moment is their injury list that is very long, and I don’t think they will become more consistent before their players return. Stuttgart is still scoring a solid number of goals, and they need to keep doing that to stay on a positive streak as long as possible.
As I’ve mentioned, Leverkusen has been on absolute fire so far this season, and with 12 scored goals so far, Leverkusen is one of the best offensive teams in Bundesliga so far. With 3 scored goals each, Diaby and Schick are the leading goalscorers for Leverkusen. Leverkusen is now in 6th place with 7 points, but they have a game less than most of the teams in Bundesliga. In their game in the Europa League against Ferencvarosi, Leverkusen was the dominant team with 66% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal, 9 corner kicks, 3 big chances, and a high 90% of the correct passes. Leverkusen has won this game 2-1, but it should have been a lot higher because Leverkusen has had a ton of great chances in this game. The schedule is decent for Leverkusen over the next couple of weeks, and if they get spared by injuries, I think Leverkusen can stay on their good streak for a little while longer.
It’s been a while since Stuttgart has won a home game against Leverkusen, and while I think Stuttgart is a good team, Leverkusen is a more complete team. I think this will be a really fun game to watch, we will see a lot of chances, but I will take Leverkusen and goals for a nice profit.
