RB Leipzig is hosting VfL Bochum at Red Bull Arena in round 7 of the German Bundesliga. Leipzig is still not doing well, and they are still struggling on both ends, a lot. Bochum is one of the weakest teams in Bundesliga, and they haven’t won any of their last 5 games.
Leipzig has 2 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses so far this season, and they are in 10th place, far away from the top of the table. Yes, Leipzig has scored 12 goals so far, but 6 of those goals were against Hertha last weekend. In the Champions League earlier this week, Leipzig was playing against Club Brugge at home, and they have had 66% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 80% of the correct passes. The start of the game was perfect for Leipzig, and they have scored a goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately for Leipzig, they have conceded 2 goals by halftime, and they ended up losing this game 1-2. Leipzig is in a lot of trouble right now, and even though they are producing in the attacking end, they just can’t win games, and that is the coach’s problem, and don’t think he will stay the head coach much longer.
Bochum has been one of the worst defensive teams in the league so far with 13 conceded goals, and they are in 17th place with only 4 points. We knew it was going to be a long and hard season for Bochum, and that is proving to be true. In their last game against Stuttgart at home, Bochum has had 44% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 71% of the correct passes. Offensively, Bochum hasn’t done anything, but luckily for them, Stuttgart wasn’t focused on the attacking end, and this game has ended in a 0-0 draw. Zoller has scored 2 goals and added 2 assists for Bochum so far this season, but they will need a lot more to stay in Bundesliga. Unfortunately for Bochum, Zoller is injured, and alongside him, Gamboa and Leitsch are also injured. Every point Bochum win will help them stay in Bundesliga, but the competition is tough, and they will need to be at their best if they want to stay.
Leipzig has always beaten Bochum in the past, but given their form, I’m not sure they can do it here, at least not easily. Leipzig is the better team here, that is not in question. I will give Leipzig the benefit of the doubt here, and despite their terrible form, I will side with them.
