Atalanta and Olympiacos face off on Thursday in the second leg of their Group of 16 Europa League showdown at Karaiskaki Stadium.
Atalanta currently leads 2-1 on aggregate after their game last Thursday. Olympiacos actually opened up the scoring in the 16th minute with a goal by Francisco Soares. In the second half, Atalanta had two goals by Berat Djimsiti within a couple of minutes to secure the victory. Atalanta had six shots on goal while Olympiacos only had one shot. Even though Atalanta has a lead right now they can’t feel super comfortable because if they lost this game 1-0, they would be the team going home.
Atalanta currently sits in 5th place in Serie A, but they are coming off a loss in their last game. Atalanta only had one shot on goal against Florentina, and they couldn’t find the back of the net. They gave up a goal in the 56th minute, and that was enough to be defeated. Atalanta has scored 46 goals while their defense has given up 30 goals total. The top player this season has been Duván Zapata and he has scored nine goals and added four assists. There are three different players that have scored at least six goals total.
On the other side of this matchup is Olympiacos who have their backs against the wall coming into this game. In the last game against Volos, it wasn’t the most impressive win, but they were able to win 1-0. Olympiacos has scored 39 goals total in the Super League Greece while the defense has given up 11 goals total. Youssef El-Arabi has been the best player this season scoring nine goals and adding an assist.
There is a ton of value in this game. Even though Olympiacos is down, all they need in this game is one goal in this game to advance with how their defense plays. I expect Olympiacos is going to score that one goal, and then their defense is going to lockdown. Back Olympiacos to win this game on the money line.
