Empoli is hosting Napoli at Carlo Castellani in round 34 of the Italian Serie A. Empoli is in terrible form, they haven’t won a game in a while, and I don’t think they will start here. Napoli is still trying to stay close to Inter and Milan, and the only way they will do that is with a win here.
Empoli hasn’t won any of their last 17 games, but they have somehow stayed out of the relegation zone, and they will most likely stay in Serie A for next season as well. Empoli is now in 14th place with 34 points, they have scored a solid 42 goals, but their defense is among the weakest in the league with 60 conceded goals in 33 games. Pinamonti is the leading goalscorer for Empoli with 10 goals, while Bajrami has added 4 assists. Haas, Marchizza, and Tonelli are all injured. Even if Empoli has all of their players available, there is nothing they could have done better because they simply don’t have the quality to compete in Serie A, and the fact that they will be staying in Serie A doesn’t prove they have.
Napoli is still only 4 points away from the top of the table despite not winning any of their last 2 games, but they need to bounce back here. With 67 points, Napoli is now in 3rd place, they have scored a solid 59 goals while conceding 27 goals. Napoli’s offense has cooled off by a lot, but their defense has become even worse. If Napoli wins the title this season, it will be a miracle, and it will be undeserved, to be honest, but that’s the sport. The injuries have been a problem for Napoli this season, but they are healthy now, and the only player missing this game will be Koulibaly who is suspended because of the yellow cards. Osimhen is leading Napoli with 12 scored goals, while Insigne has added 9 goals and 7 assists. Speaking of Insigne, he is the player who will be leaving Napoli at the end of this season, and he will probably leave without winning a trophy. Napoli is a solid team, they can play really well, but the defense that has made them the best team at the start of the season is no longer keeping there.
Napoli has only 1 loss on the road this season, while Empoli hasn’t won any of their last 17 games. I think Napoli will dominate here, and I think they will get a win simply because they don’t have any more room for error. I’m going with Napoli.
