The Minnesota Vikings battle the Indianapolis Colts in week 2 NFL preseason action from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday.
The Indianapolis Colts will be out to build on a 21-18 win over Carolina to kick off their preseason in their last game. Jacob Eason threw for 183 yards on 15 of 21 passing while Sam Ehlinger threw for 155 yards and an interception on 10 of 15 passing. Ehlinger also led the Colts in rushing with 30 rushing yards while Benny LeMay had 26 rushing yards with a touchdown and Jordan Wilkins added 25 rushing yards and a score as well. Tarik Black led the Colts with 67 receiving yards while Mike Strachan had 57 receiving yards and Dezmon Patmon had a team-high 5 catches for 49 receiving yards in the win. Tyler Vaughns also added 3 grabs for 46 yards while Parris Campbell’s lone catch went for 37 yards. Defensively, Isaac Rochell, Joey Ivie and Isaiah Kaufusi each had a team-high 5 total tackles with all five of Rochell’s being solo tackles while Ivie had a sack.
The Minnesota Vikings will be out to bounce back from a 33-6 beatdown at the hands of Denver to kick off their preseason. Kellen Mond threw for 53 yards on 6 of 16 passing while Jake browning had an interception and 31 passing yards on 5 of 10 passing. A.J. Rose Jr. led the Vikes in rushing with 25 carries for 100 rushing yards while Ameer Abdullah had 29 rushing yards and Mond called his own number for 25 yards. Rose Jr. also led the Vikings with 18 receiving yards in the loss. Troy Dye and Camryn Bynum each had a team-high 7 total tackles with Dye logging 6 solo tackles, one for a loss.
Indianapolis is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog while the under is 11-4 in their last 15 Saturday games. Minnesota is 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite.
Maybe the Vikings show up at home after a dismal start to the preseason, but I’m not banking on it if we’re being honest. The depth just isn’t strong for the Vikings. I was a detractor of the Colts and their depth but there’s no denying the Colts looked pretty good in their opener and I think they build on that with a win and cover here.
