We have three highlighted players in our Nuggets vs Wizards NBA Player Props for Sunday, January 21, when the Denver Nuggets visit the Washington Wizards. The reigning champions won three of the last four games, while the Wizards are trying to avoid a four-game losing streak.
Nuggets vs Wizards NBA Player Props – Nikola Jokic Over 38.5 Points and Rebounds (-114)
Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets face the weakest defense in the NBA that allows 125.0 points per game. Additionally, the Wizards allow the second-most points to the opposing centers (26.5) and the most rebounds (18.8).
Jokic recorded 43 and 46 points and rebounds combined in his last two games against the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics, respectively. Given these teams have much stronger defenses than the Wizards, I have no doubt the Joker will dominate the paint once again. He averages 22.3 ppg and 11.3 rpg in 15 career games against Washington, but the Wizards’ defense is criminally bad this year.
We can’t ignore the fact that the Wizards allow a league-high 49.8 rebounds per game and a league-high 13.0 offensive rebounds per game. Jokic will exploit this matchup.
Jordan Poole Over 17.5 points (-114)
Jordan Poole opened a new year with three duds as he posted 8, 2, and 10 points in the first games of January 2024. However, a talented shooter managed to bounce back and scored 20+ points in four of the next five games, averaging 22.4 ppg in that stretch.
Denver is allowing 22.2 ppg to the opposing shooting guards. Poole made 2+ triples in each of the previous five games and is the No. 2 offensive option on the team, so I am backing him to score at least 18 points here. Poole will have a tricky matchup, though, as he faces a strong defender in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Still, Poole is in good form at the moment; he averages 8 field goals made over the last five games.
Poole faced the Nuggets on 11 occasions, but he started only two of those. All duels against Denver came in Golden State uniform, where he wasn’t one of the best offensive options. Nevertheless, Poole averaged 14.4 ppg in 22.0 minutes per game against Denver. He will play around 30 minutes on Sunday and score 17+ points.
Kyle Kuzma Over 6.5 rebounds (+115)
We conclude our Nuggets vs Wizards NBA Player Props with another Wizard. Just like his teammate Poole, Kyle Kuzma had a rough start to a new year, but when it comes to rebounds. He recorded just two boards in each of the first three games in 2024, but in the next six games, Kuzma posted three double-doubles and averaged 9.7 rebounds per game.
Kuzma had over 6.5 rebounds in four of the previous six, and when he failed to do so, he recorded precisely six boards. Denver is playing well against the opposing power forwards, allowing 9.7 rpg. Kuzma doesn’t have competition at his position, so he should be good for 7+ rebounds in this one. Only a blowout or a potential early foul trouble could prevent him from grabbing 7+ boards. The odds are excellent, so my advice is to go for it!
This was our Nuggets vs Wizards NBA Player Props for Sunday, January 21. At least two of these three picks should win, which would be enough for a solid profit.
