Portland Trail Blazers at Los Angeles Clippers 12/30/20: NBA Basketball free preview, analysis, prediction, odds and pick against the spread.
2020-12-30 22:00:00 EDT

The Portland Trailblazers invade the STAPLES Center to do battle with the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.

The Portland Trailblazers are starting to heat up now as they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Lakers in a 115-107 road win on Monday. Damian Lillard led the team with 31 points and five assists on 10 of 16 shooting, Gary Trent Jr. added 28 points, CJ McCollum scored 20 points with 11 assists, while Enes Kanter chipped in with 12 points and 14 rebounds. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 46 percent from the field and 16 of 46 from the 3-point line as they trailed by night points midway through the third quarter, before coming back in the fourth quarter where they held the Lakers to just 22 points.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have been in decent form to start the season as they’ve won three of their four games and they will be looking to stay hot after last night’s 124-101 home win over the Timberwolves. Lou Williams led the team in scoring with 20 points and five assists, Paul George added 18 points with five assists, Serge Ibaka scored 16 points while Luke Kennard chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 53 percent from the field and 16 of 31 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 70 points in the first half to lead by 20 points going into halftime, before pouring in another 35 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 31 points.

Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight road games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Clippers are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games playing on zero days rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record.

Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the Trailblazers are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Los Angeles.

The Trailblazers looked to be in trouble against the Lakers in their last outing before rallying in the fourth quarter for their second straight win. The Clippers needed to bounce back in a major way after suffering that 51-point loss and they will be feeling much better after last night’s dominant win over the Timberwolves. The Trailblazers are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Los Angeles and the Clippers are shorthanded while playing this one on zero days rest. This should be a close one, but I’m sticking with the Trailblazers in an upset.
