The Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees meet Tuesday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. In the opener Monday, the Yankees cruised to a blowout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Philadelphia Phillies

Philadelphia opened up their season with a series versus Texas, losing all three games 11-7, 16-3 and 2-1. In the Monday game versus New York, the Phillies managed just one run on 11 team hits in an 8-1 loss. Starter Taijuan Walker put up 4.1 innings with four earned on four hits and three walks.

Starting pitcher for the Phillies on Tuesday will be Matt Strahm. In his lone appearance this year Strahm has one inning with a clean ERA and one strikeout. He’s got a 17-28 career record with a 3.80 ERA overall in 208 games (25 starts).

New York Yankees

Over on the Yankees’ side, they played the Giants in their first series. New York won two of those three games. In the Monday matchup, the Yankees scored five runs in the fifth inning alone on the way to nine team hits. Nestor Cortes lasted 5.0 innings in the start with one earned on seven hits.

Domingo German will make the start for New York on Tuesday. Last season German went 2-5 with a 3.61 ERA in 15 games (14 starts). German posted 58 strikeouts in 72.1 innings. Over his career, German is 26-21 with a 4.37 ERA in 92 games (70 starts).

The Phillies are 7-22 in their last 29 interleague road games and 1-6 in their last seven in game two of a series. The under is 5-2 in Philly’s last seven versus the AL East.

Meanwhile, New York is 38-14 in their last 52 Tuesday games and 58-25 in their last 83 at home. The Yankees are 69-31 in their last 100 in game two of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with the Yankees in this one. Probably not touching it, though. New York’s offense looked pretty good in the Giants series, scoring 16 runs across the three games. The Yankees also held San Francisco scoreless in two of the three matchups. On Monday, New York was able to minimize the damage in the field and once again got a big offensive boost on the other side. German is going to be something of a question mark in game two, but if he can put together a decent start the Yankees offense should carry the team the rest of the way.

Andrew's Free Pick: New York Yankees -141
