The Kansas City Royals and the San Diego Padres meet Tuesday in MLB action from Petco Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series this week. In the Monday opener, the Padres managed a shutout victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Kansas City Royals

The Royals didn’t have any luck against the Brewers over the weekend, falling in a three-game sweep. On Monday Kansas City gave up three in the first two innings and only mustered two team hits in a 4-0 loss. Brad Keller went 3.2 innings in the start with two earned on three hits and eight walks.

For the starter job in the Tuesday matchup the Royals will send out Brady Singer. Over his eight starts so far Singer is 2-4 with a 7.71 ERA and 37 Ks in 39.2 innings. Singer is 21-24 with a 4.39 ERA in 74 career games (71 starts).

San Diego Padres

Over on the Padres’ side, they also had a bad weekend series and got swept by the Dodgers. In the Monday game one San Diego bagged a tepid five team hits but made them count. Starting pitcher Michael Wacha was great on 7.0 clean frames, one hit, one walk and 11 strikeouts.

Seth Lugo will make the start for the Padres on Tuesday. This year over seven starts Lugo is 3-2 with a 3.18 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 39.2 innings. Lugo is 35-26 with a 3.45 ERA in 282 career games (45 starts).

The Royals are 16-37 in their last 53 in game two of a series and 14-37 in their last 51 overall. Kansas City is 15-42 in their last 57 road games.

Meanwhile, the Padres are 0-4 in their last four in game two of a series and 2-6 in their last eight Tuesday games. The under is 6-0-1 in San Diego’s last seven in game two of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with the Padres in this one. Realistically the line’s too thick to mess with, though. Lugo is sitting on a pair of good starts, notching 12.0 combined innings with three earned on 12 hits and three walks. As for Singer, he pitched well against the White Sox in his last outing with one earned in 6.0 innings. On Monday San Diego got a great outing from Wacha and scored early to take the pressure off. I like the Padres to keep the momentum going and bag a game two victory.

Andrew's Free Pick: San Diego Padres -222
