The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres meet Saturday in MLB action from Petco Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series over the weekend. On Friday in the opener the Padres powered out a three-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers took on the Phillies this week, taking all three games of that set for a sweep. In the series opener versus the Padres on Friday, LA had a brief lead early but only notched four hits in a 5-2 defeat. Clayton Kershaw put up 4.2 innings with four earned, eight hits and five walks.

For the starter job in the Saturday game, the Dodgers will send out Dustin May. In his six starts so far May is 3-1 with a 3.15 ERA and 23 Ks in 34.1 innings. May is 11-9 in his career with a 3.24 ERA in 43 games (31 starts).

San Diego Padres

Over on the San Diego side, they played the Reds in their last series and won two of three games. In the Friday matchup, the Padres scored three runs in the fifth during the victory. Starter Yu Darvish managed 6.2 innings, two earned, four hits and a walk.

Blake Snell will take the mound for the Padres on Saturday. Over his six starts thus far Snell is 1-4 with a 5.28 ERA and 33 strikeouts over 29.0 innings. Snell has a career mark of 58-50 with a 3.48 ERA in 165 starts.

The Dodgers are 67-23 in their last 90 in game two of a series and 38-14 in their last 52 Saturday games. LA is 48-21 in their last 69 versus the NL West.

Meanwhile, the Padres are 5-0 in their last five Saturday games and the under is 3-0-1 in their last four in game two of a series. The over is 7-2-1 in San Diego’s last 10 Saturday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with the Dodgers in this one. May has been pitching well over his last two starts, posting a combined 10.1 innings with four earned on five hits and seven walks. May is 2-0 in that time. As for Snell, he’s 1-2 in his last three starts with seven combined earned over 16.0 innings. In the Friday matchup, Los Angeles had a pretty sketchy offensive outing. That said, the Dodgers really only had the one bad inning in a rare off-night for Kershaw. I like LA to bounce back and even it up in game two.
