The Atlanta Braves and the San Diego Padres meet Tuesday in MLB action from Petco Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series this week. In the Monday opener of this set, the Braves bagged a shutout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Atlanta Braves

The Braves took on the Royals over the weekend, taking a three-game sweep with wins 10-3, 9-3 and 5-4. On Monday versus the Padres, Atlanta scored twice in the first inning and held on for a 2-0 victory. Starter Max Fried put up 5.0 innings with no walks and four hits.

For the starter job in the Tuesday matchup, the Braves will send out Spencer Strider. Over his three starts so far Strider is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 16.0 frames. Strider is 13-5 with a 2.76 ERA in his 36 career games (23 starts).

San Diego Padres

Over on the San Diego side, they played the Brewers over the weekend and won just one of four games. On Monday the Padres couldn’t find any success on the scoreboard with six team hits. Ryan Weathers managed 6.0 innings, two earned, six hits and two walks in the start.

It’ll be Blake Snell for the starting role on Tuesday. Across his three starts this year Snell is 0-2 with a 6.92 ERA. He’s got 16 Ks in 13.0 innings so far. Snell is 57-48 in his career with a 3.47 ERA over 162 starts.

The Braves are 57-14 in their last 71 versus a team with a losing record. Atlanta is 40-11 in their last 51 in game two of a series and 50-22 in their last 72 overall.

Meanwhile, the Padres are 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games and the under is 8-3-1 in their last 12 Tuesday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with the Braves in this one. Atlanta has gotten a few solid showings out of Strider so far; he’s got six earned runs in 16.0 innings total. Strider has given up three earned with four hits in 5.0 innings during each of his last two outings; if he can get through five without too much damage here, Atlanta will be in great shape. On Monday, the Braves got hits from five different batters, but only Ronald Acuna had more than one (3-for-5; one run). It might take a better offensive effort to get there, but I think Atlanta is in good shape for a win in game two.

Andrew's Free Pick: Atlanta Braves -156
