The Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals meet Wednesday in MLB action from Nationals Park. This will be the finale in a quick two-game series. In the Tuesday matchup, Baltimore eked out a low-scoring win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles played the White Sox over the weekend, winning two of the three games in that series. On Tuesday versus the Nationals, Baltimore had five hits in a tight 1-0 victory. Starter Dean Kremer put up 6.2 clean frames with four hits, no walks and six Ks.

For the starter job in the Wednesday matchup, the Orioles will send out Kyle Bradish coming off an injury. In his lone start this year Bradish lasted 1.2 innings with two strikeouts, one hit, one walk and no earned.

Washington Nationals

Over on the Nationals’ side, they played the Guardians over the weekend. Washington won the first pair but ended up falling 7-6 on Sunday. In the Tuesday game the Nats wasted some good pitching performances with the scoreboard goose egg. Josiah Gray had 5.0 innings, one earned, four hits and four walks in the start.

MacKenzie Gore will get the call for the starter job in the Wednesday game. Gore is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three starts this year. He’s got 18 Ks in 15.0 innings. Over his career, Gore is 6-4 with a 4.24 ERA in 19 games (16 starts).

The Orioles are 4-0 in their last four versus the NL east and 4-1 in their last five overall. Baltimore is 5-2 in their last seven interleague games.

Meanwhile, the Nats are 28-58 in their last 86 after a loss and 31-71 in their last 102 overall. Washington is 17-45 in their last 62 at home.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with the Nationals here. Gore had a bit of a sketchy start in his last appearance, going 3.2 innings with two earned on four hits and four walks versus the Angels. That said, Gore’s first two outings (11.1 combined innings; three earned) were solid. In the Tuesday matchup, Washington got a nice start from Gray along with four more innings of a one-hit bullpen performance. If the Nationals can get the bats going in game two, I like them to even it up.

Andrew's Free Pick: Washington Nationals +120
