New York posted a big 17-6 win over the A’s on Friday, then kept it up with a 3-2 win on Saturday. In game three, the Mets came back from a 3-2 deficit in the eighth to post a 4-3 comeback win in 10 innings. Jose Butto put up 5.0 innings in the start with one earned on five hits and four walks.
As starter for the Mets on Monday, it’ll be David Peterson. Over his three starts so far Peterson is 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 14.2 innings. Peterson is 15-15 in his career with a 4.30 ERA in 56 games (46 starts).
Los Angeles Dodgers
Over on the Dodgers’ side, they lost to the Cubs 8-2 on Friday before bouncing back for a 2-1 win in game two. On Sunday Los Angeles was out-hit 11-8 in a 3-2 loss. Starter Julio Urias lasted 5.2 innings with two earned on eight hits and a walk.
For the starter gig in the Monday matchup, the Dodgers are going with Dustin May. Over three starts this year May is 1-1 with a 1.47 ERA and 12 Ks in 18.1 innings. May is 9-9 with a 3.06 ERA over 40 games (28 starts) in his career.

I might take a stab on the Mets here. Peterson has two good starts out of three so far this year: 10.2 combined innings with three earned sandwiched around five earned in 4.0 innings. He’s still looking for a victory, so Peterson will need some help from the Mets offense to improve his chances here. On Sunday the Mets had a tepid six team hits but the team found production when they really needed it. New York needs a good offensive effort in this opener as well; if they get it the Mets should be in decent shape for a potential W.
