The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox meet in an AL Central division matchup from Guaranteed Rate Field on Tuesday night.
The Minnesota Twins will look to rebound from a 3-2 loss at the hands of the White Sox on Monday in the series opener. Luis Arraez has 171 hits including a team-high 30 doubles while also posting a .315 batting average and Gary Sanchez has 23 doubles this season. Jorge Polanco has 88 hits and 56 RBIs and Max Kepler has 43 RBIs as well on the year, while Carlos Correa’s also added 152 hits. Josh Winder will start here and is 4-5 with a 4.31 ERA and 45 strikeouts this season.
The Chicago White Sox will try to build on their 3-2 win over the Twins last time out. Jose Abreu has 15 home runs, along with 75 RBIs, 182 hits and 39 doubles while Luis Robert has a .284 batting average with 108 hits, 12 home runs and 56 RBIs and Andrew Vaughn has 17 home runs, 76 RBIs, a .273 batting average and 28 doubles this season. A.J. Pollock’s also added 56 RBIs and 26 doubles on the year for Chicago. Lucas Giolito will start here and is 10-9 with a 5.00 ERA and 173 strikeouts this season.
Minnesota is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 1-7 in their last 8 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Chicago is 4-9 in their last 13 games overall and 1-7 in their last 8 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.
I get the case to be made for the White Sox being favored at home, but the reality here is that the White Sox have struggled at home and while both teams have nothing but pride to play for here, it’s hard to back the White Sox when Giolito’s been giving up runs in bunches at home, not playing well at home like the rest of the White Sox have been for much of the season. I don’t love Josh Winder, but the Twins to me are the better option here, so give me Minnesota in this one.
