The New York Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Wednesday in MLB action from American Family Field. This will be the finale in a three-game series. The Brewers took a shutout win in the opener, then on Tuesday Milwaukee repeated the feat with a blowout victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

New York Mets

The Mets began their year against the Marlins, eventually taking three of four games. New York was pummeled 10-0 in the Monday opener of this set, though. On Tuesday the Mets were out-hit 13-8 in a 9-0 loss. Max Scherzer went 5.1 innings in the start with five earned on eight hits and two walks.

Starter for the Mets on Wednesday will be David Peterson. In his first start this year Peterson took a tough-luck loss with 5.0 innings, one earned, eight hits, one walk and five Ks against the Marlins. Last year Peterson went 7-5 with a 3.83 ERA in 28 games (19 starts).

Milwaukee Brewers

Over on the Milwaukee side, they managed two wins in three games versus the Cubs in their first series. On Monday the Brewers scored seven runs in the fifth inning alone. In the Tuesday game Milwaukee scored seven runs across the sixth and seventh frames. Wade Miley lasted 6.0 innings with five hits and no walks in the start.

Corbin Burnes will be the starter for the Wednesday finale. In his first appearance Burnes went 5.0 innings with four earned, four hits, three walks and three Ks. Last season he managed a 12-8 record in 33 starts with a 2.94 ERA overall.

The Mets are 11-2 in their last 13 Wednesday games and 36-16 in their last 52 in game three of a series. The over is 3-1-1 in New York’s last five in game three of a series.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 5-13 in their last 18 versus the NL East and 5-2 in their last seven at home versus a lefty starter. The under is 5-0-1 in Milwaukee’s last six Wednesday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably take a stab on Milwaukee here. Burnes needs a good bounce-back start, though. He struggled against the Cubs in his first outing and didn’t get any help from the offense in a 4-0 defeat. Milwaukee has looked better on offense since then, though. On Tuesday Milwaukee scored twice in the first inning and never looked back as they cruised to the victory. This one probably won’t be such a blowout, but I still like the Brewers to keep it going.

Andrew's Free Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -135
