Saint Louis Cardinals
St. Louis had a series versus the Braves this week, falling 8-4, 4-1 and 5-2 in a sweep. On Friday versus Milwaukee, the Cardinals had just five hits in a 4-0 loss. Starter Jack Flaherty lasted 5.0 innings with two earned on four hits and six walks.
As starter for the Saturday game two, St. Louis will send out Jordan Montgomery. In his first start of the season Montgomery put up a win with 5.0 innings, three earned, six hits and a walk. In his career Montgomery is 29-23 with a 3.86 ERA.
Milwaukee Brewers
Over on the Milwaukee side, they did well against the Mets this week, taking a sweep with wins 10-0, 9-0 and 7-6. In the Friday matchup, the Brewers scored twice in the third and powered out the win. Brandon Woodruff put up 5.1 clean innings with four hits and two walks.
It’ll be Eric Lauer in the start for the Brewers on Saturday. Over 5.1 innings in his first start of the season, Lauer managed a win with two earned on five hits and two walks. He’s 33-31 with a 4.10 ERA in 111 games (104 starts) over his career.
The Cardinals are 37-14 in their last 51 versus a lefty starter and 21-8 in their last 29 road games versus a lefty starter. St. Louis is 39-19 in their last 58 in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are 6-0 in their last six in game two of a series and 6-1 in their last seven Saturday games. Milwaukee is 6-2 in their last eight at home versus a lefty starter.

I’ll probably try the Brewers here. Milwaukee’s offense has come around after a bit of a slow start (three combined runs in the first two games). The Brewers put up 35 combined runs in a four-game stretch after that, sweeping the Mets in the process. On Friday Milwaukee had a dominant offensive outing with seven different batters getting at least one hit. I like another solid effort here in a close win for the Brewers.
