Blue Jays vs Mariners Pick – MLB Predictions & Odds 4/30/23

The Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Sunday in MLB action from Rogers Centre. This will be the finale in a three-game series. The Blue Jays eked out a win in the opener, then in the Saturday matchup Toronto kept it going with another close victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Seattle Mariners

The Mariners had a brief 2-1 lead in the Friday opener of this series, but ultimately fell 3-2 on six team hits. On Saturday Seattle out-hit the Jays 6-3 in a 1-0 loss over 10 innings. Starter Easton McGee put up 6.2 clean frames with one hit, one walk and two strikeouts.

For the starter job in the Sunday finale the Mariners are sending out Marco Gonzales. In his four starts so far Gonzales is 2-0 with a 3.32 ERA and 17 Ks in 21.2 innings. Gonzales is 63-48 in his career with a 4.06 ERA in 157 games (149 starts).

Toronto Blue Jays

Over on the Toronto side, they posted the go-ahead run in the sixth inning in the Friday game on the way to eight total hits. In game two the Jays got a walk-off single from Daulton Varsho to secure the victory. Kevin Gausman was great on 7.0 innings, six hits, one walk and 13 Ks.

It’ll be Chris Bassitt in the start for the Blue Jays on Sunday. Over his five starts this year Bassitt is 3-2 with a 4.82 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 28.0 innings. Bassitt is 49-36 in his career with a 3.50 ERA in 141 games (128 starts).

The Mariners are 2-7 in their last nine in game three of a series and 1-6 in their last seven Sunday games. The over is 5-1 in Seattle’s last six Sunday games.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are 6-13 in their last 19 versus the AL West and the over is 6-1 in their last seven Sunday games. The under is 3-1-1 in Toronto’s last five in game three of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll try the Mariners here. Should be a good matchup regardless, though. Gonzales is rolling along nicely across his last three games, with 16.2 combined innings, four earned, 14 hits and five walks for a 2-0 record in that time. Bassitt, meanwhile, has 18.2 innings with 10 hits, seven walks and four earned over his last three starts for a 2-1 run. On Saturday there wasn’t much offense to be found on either side but both teams had some nice pitching performances. I like another competitive matchup in the finale with the Mariners staving off the sweep.
