Arizona Diamondbacks vs Colorado Rockies Prediction 3-28-24 Picks

The Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet Thursday in MLB action from Chase Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks prediction.

Colorado Rockies Team Preview

The Colorado Rockies come into the 2024 campaign off of a disappointing 2023 season, finishing 59-103, with their second-fewest wins in a season in franchise history and their worst 162-game record in franchise history. The Rockies did a good job of keeping their young core together, with Ezequiel Tovar, Ryan McMahon and Brendan Rodgers back on the infield and Nolan Jones a budding star in the Rockies’ outfield. Charlie Blackmon, Ryan McMahon and Kris Bryant are all back as well to provide a veteran presence for the Rockies in 2024. Kyle Freeland will start for the Rockies here and was 6-14 with a 5.03 ERA and 94 strikeouts last season. The Rockies will play against the Cubs following this series.

Arizona Diamondbacks Team Preview

The Arizona Diamondbacks come into the 2024 season fresh off of one of the best seasons in franchise history, finishing 84-78, making their first playoff appearance since 2017. The Diamondbacks swept the Brewers and Dodgers and took out the Phillies in 7 games to win their first NL Pennant since 2001, but couldn’t complete the story as they fell in the World Series to Texas in five games. Corbin Carroll led the youth movement, winning the NL Rookie of the Year award after finishing with a .285 batting average, 25 homers, 76 RBIs, 10 triples and 30 doubles. Christian Walker added 33 homers and 103 RBIs as well last season. Zac Gallen will get the start here and was 17-9 with a 3.47 ERA and 220 strikeouts last season. The Diamondbacks will meet the Yankees in the series after this one.

Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Prediction

I’m on the Diamondbacks here. The Diamondbacks are the better team in this game by a fair margin and Arizona’s going to have one of the better offenses in baseball while Colorado’s expected to have one of the worst. I just don’t see that changing out of the gate here, so give me Arizona in this one.
