The Washington Nationals and the Los Angeles Angels meet Tuesday in MLB action from Angel Stadium. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. On Monday in the opener, the Nationals secured a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Washignton Nationals

The Nationals played the Rockies over the weekend, winning the middle two outings in a four-game set for a split. On Monday versus LA, Washington out-hit the Angels 14-7 in a 6-4 win. Patrick Corbin put up 5.0 innings in the start with four earned on seven hits and three walks.

For the starter job in the Tuesday matchup the Nationals will send out Josiah Gray. In his two starts so far Gray is 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA. In 11.0 innings he has 10 strikeouts. Gray is 9-14 with a 5.16 ERA in his MLB career over 44 games (43 starts).

Los Angeles Angels

Over on the Angels’ side, they won one of three games versus the Blue Jays over the weekend. On Monday versus the Nationals, Los Angeles had a 4-1 lead early but couldn’t score after the third inning. Starter Jose Suarez lasted 4.0 frames with four earned, 10 hits and a walk.

It’ll be Shohei Ohtani in the starting role for the Angels on Tuesday. Across his first two starts Ohtani is 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA. He has 18 Ks in 12.0 innings total. Ohtani is 29-14 with a 2.89 career ERA in 65 starts.

The Nationals are 29-66 in their last 95 overall and 8-20 in their last 28 Tuesday games. Washington is 3-9 in their last 12 in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Angels are 9-3 in their last 12 versus a right-handed starter and 3-8 in their last 11 versus the NL East. LA is 3-12 in their last 15 interleague games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stay with the Angels. Probably not touching this one, though; the line’s too thick to mess with. Ohtani has been great in his first pair of outings so far, giving up just one earned run over 12.0 innings and going 6.0 frames in each. On Monday Los Angeles didn’t get the greatest outing from Suarez, and there wasn’t much happening offensively after the third inning. That said, I like the Angels to bounce back in this one. I’m staying away in reality, though.

Andrew's Free Pick: Los Angeles Angels -370
