Breaking down the best FanDuel player selections for tonight's Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets matchup.
Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets
March 7, 2024 10:00 pm EDT
Tonight, the NBA presents a Western Conference matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets. Let’s take a look at this game from a FanDuel/DFS perspective.
Before we discuss my DFS player selections for this evening’s game, let’s briefly review the rules for the FanDuel single game contest.
Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.
The remaining four players in your lineup will be the star, pro, and flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The pro player will accumulate 1.2x the standard fantasy points value.
The final two flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a FanDuel single game contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
Here are my FanDuel Player Selections for tonight’s Thunder vs. Lakers matchup.
FanDuel Player Picks
MVP-Nikola Jokic $17,000
The 2023 NBA Finals MVP has certainly been playing at a high level in 2024. Let’s look at Jokic’s player statistics for this season to illustrate my point. Through 59 games played, Jokic has averaged 25.9 points, 12.2 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 1.2 steals a game. Clearly, the data just presented indicates that Jokic is the key to the Nuggets offense.
Additionally, I like the fact that Jokic will be facing a Phoenix Suns defense that has struggled defending the center position. The Suns are ranked 19th in total fantasy points allowed to the center position. Now the Suns draw the best center in the NBA. Let’s just say I like Jokic’s chances for success this evening. Having stated that, Jokic is a lock as my MVP.
STAR-Bradley Beal 13,000
Last week, talented Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker injured his ankle in a contest with the Rockets. The injury will cause Booker to miss several games. Phoenix guard Bradley Beal will likely be the beneficiary of Booker’s unfortunate absence.
In the Suns first game without Booker, Bradley Beal accumulated 31 points, 4 rebounds, and six assists in Phoenix’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. In my opinion, Bradley Beal will continue to produce from a statistical standpoint versus the Nuggets later today.
PRO-Eric Gordon $9,500
Looking further down the FanDuel pricing on this single game slate I like the look on Eric Gordon. Why? Well, Suns forward Josh Okogie is out tonight. I noted earlier in this article that Phoenix guard Devin Booker will not play in this game as well. Booker’s absence in combination with the loss of Okogie should result in a significant increase in playing time for Eric Gordon. I think Gordon’s relatively low price makes him a very attractive play at the pro slot.
Flex plays I like: Kevin Durant $15,000: Royce O’Neale $10,000: Grayson Allen $10,500: Christian Braun $7,000.
