New Hampshire had a rough second half against Stony Brook in their opener, but still ended up prevailing 27-21 to start the year off on a high note. The Wildcats were able to keep it going in week two against Towson as well. New Hampshire prevailed 26-14 in that one.

In the week three game versus Lafayette, the Wildcats posted a fourth-quarter touchdown on the way to a 19-13 victory. New Hampshire QB Bret Edwards put up 249 yards with two scores, and Dylan Laube led the rush on 79 yards and a TD from 10 carries.

Over on the Pittsburgh side, they scored 23 points in the first half and cruised to a 51-7 win over UMass in their opener. Week two was a bit of a nail-biter for the Panthers. They played Tennessee, ultimately prevailing 41-34 thanks to 27 points in the second quarter.

Pittsburgh played Western Michigan this past weekend. In that one, the Panthers were outscored 10-7 in the final quarter during a tough 44-41 loss. QB Kenny Pickett threw for 382 yards and six touchdowns, while Jordan Addison caught six balls for 124 yards and three scores.

PICK: I’m probably going to stick with Pittsburgh here, but also probably not going near this game. The Panthers gave up 517 yards of offense in their last game along with 357 pass yards, 28 first downs and 86 total plays. Pitt also coughed up three turnovers and went just 1-of-8 on first downs.

As for the Wildcats, they had a pretty solid (if uninspiring) offensive attack in their victory last weekend. New Hampshire did just enough to secure the win and performed okay on defense. Still, if Pittsburgh plays like they’re capable this Saturday the Wildcats won’t be able to stop them.
