The New Mexico State Aggies and New Mexico Lobos do battle Saturday in a week 7 college football game from Aggie Memorial Stadium.
The New Mexico Lobos will be out to snap a three-game losing streak after their 27-14 loss to Wyoming last time out, falling to 2-4 on the year as a result. Miles Kendrick has thrown for 700 yards, 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 57.1% passing while Nathaniel Jones has a team-high 255 rushing yards this season. Geordon Porter has a team-high 263 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns while Luke Wysong has 120 receiving yards. On defense, Cody Moon has a team-high 47 total tackles and 3.5 sacks while Justin Harris also has 3.5 and the Lobos defense has 15 sacks and 7 interceptions as a unit this season.
The New Mexico State Aggies will look to bounce back from a 21-7 loss to FIU to fall to 1-5 on the year. Gavin Frakes has thrown for 398 yards, 2 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 45.2% passing while Diego Pavia’s thrown for 322 yards and 4 picks on 40.5% passing while also rushing for 102 yards and a pair of scores. Star Thomas has a team-high 272 rushing yards and Jamoni Jones has 197 rushing yards as well. Justice Powers leads NMSU’s receiving group with 204 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Chris Ojoh has 46 total tackles with 31 solo tackles and 3 sacks. Lazarus Williams also has a pair of sacks for the Aggie defense this season.
New Mexico is 8-20 ATS in their last 28 road games and 6-21-1 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 non-conference games. New Mexico State is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home.
I get the case to be made either way in this game, but I’m looking at the Lobos here. I considered the over, but both teams haven’t been very good offensively. The good news for New Mexico, is that the Lobos have been decent defensively and are the far better defensive unit here and have contended against better teams while the loss to FIU may be a new low for the Aggies this season. Give me the Lobos laying the points here.
