The Bowling Green Falcons and the Western Carolina Catamounts meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Ramsey Center. Bowling Green is fresh off a 14-12 overall campaign last year, making it to the Quarterfinals of the CBI. As for the Catamounts, they went 11-16 overall last season and finished far down the rankings of the SoCon. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Bowling Green had a middling season in 2020-21, going 14-12 overall with a 10-8 record in the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons finished in sixth place in the MAC standings, behind Toledo, Buffalo, Akron, Kent State and Ohio.

The Falcons were sitting at 10-8 in early February, but finished strong with four wins in their final five outings. The MAC Tournament was over quickly for Bowling Green with a 74-67 loss to Akron, and the CBI didn’t go much better after a 53-52 loss to Stetson in the CBI Quarterfinals.

Over on the Western Carolina side, they posted a 11-16 run last year with a pretty dismal 4-13 mark in the Southern Conference. The Catamounts finished one spot out of the basement in the standings, beading out only Samford at 2-9 in SoCon play.

Western Carolina went 7-2 in non-conference play last year but couldn’t find too many wins among the SoCon. The good news is that the Catamounts won their final two regular-season games before a 100-86 loss to the Citadel in the First Round of the SoCon Tournament.

The Falcons are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 overall. Bowling Green is 5-14-1 ATS in their last 20 Tuesday games as well.

Meanwhile, the Catamounts are 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 overall and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six at home. The over is 4-0 in WCU’s last four Tuesday games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Catamounts, but probably staying away until we see them in action. Western Carolina gets a fresh start this year under new head coach Justin Gray. He’ll have some returning pieces to build around, including juniors Tyler Harris and Travion McCray—each got a decent amount of on-court experience last season and should play a big role going forward. It’s going to be a question of finding the right chemistry under a new regime, but if the Catamounts can get off to a fast start here I don’t see why they can’t post a cover.
