Boston College Eagles

Boston College managed to kick off the year with a 10-12 run. The Eagles are 4-3 in their last seven, taking wins over Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida State and Virginia with losses otherwise to Syracuse, NC State and Pittsburgh.

In the Virginia matchup on Wednesday, the Eagles were up 28-21 going into the break. Boston College hit a 35-27 advantage in the second to take the upset win 63-48. Makai Ashton-Langford led the team on 16 points with six rebounds.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Over on the Wake Forest side, their year began on a 14-8 record through 22 games. The Deacons have since gone 4-3 as well with wins over Notre Dame, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame again during that time.

Matched up against the Irish on Saturday, the Demon Deacons were up three points in the locker room. Wake Forest hit a 27-22 second-half run and took the win 66-58. Tyree Appleby was the top team scorer on 21 points and six assists.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably try Wake Forest here. We should have a good matchup on our hands regardless, though. The Deacons played pretty well in their last game versus a struggling Notre Dame team, hitting 35.6 percent from the floor with 42 rebounds and 13 team assists. The last time Wake saw Boston College was back on January 14 at Conte Forum. The Deacons powered out an 85-63 victory in that one thanks to a 41-31 first half. Boston College has won consecutive games—including a huge one versus Virginia—and they’ll be a stout opponent. Ultimately I think Wake can power out the cover, though.
