Binghamton was sitting at .500 on the year as recently as February 5, but they’ve hit the skids since then. The Bearcats are just 2-6 in their last eight games. The only wins in that time have come courtesy of UMass Lowell and New Hampshire.
In the New Hampshire game, the Bearcats were up 36-34 by halftime. Binghamton posted a 36-35 advantage the rest of the way in a 72-69 win. Jacob Falko was tops in scoring on 21 points and five assists.
Over on the Vermont side, their first 10 games featured a 6-4 run. The Catamounts have lost just once since December 7, though. They’ve taken out UMBC, Binghamton, UMass Lowell, Maine and NJIT in the last half-dozen outings.
On Sunday versus NJIT, the Catamounts jumped out to a 48-27 halftime lead. Vermont kept the heat up on a 50-32 second half in a 98-59 blowout victory. Ben Shungu led the team on his 15 points and five rebounds.
Vermont is 4-1 ATS in the last five at home and the over is 10-2 in their last 12 at home. The over is 11-2 in Vermonts’ last 13 after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Bearcats are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine Wednesday games. Binghamton is 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS win.
PICK: I’m probably staying with Vermont here, but the line’s too thick to mess with. The Catamounts have done a great job defensively over this six-game win streak; they’ve kept opponents to 61 points or fewer in each outing. That’s not good news for a team like Binghamton that doesn’t score all that well anyway.
The last time these teams met up, Vermont put up a 66-49 road win back on February 23. I don’t see the Catamounts having too much trouble in this one, and I think they’ll be fine on a cover.
