The New Mexico State Aggies and the Utah Tech Trailblazers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Burns Arena. New Mexico State is coming off a Thursday matchup with Southern Utah. In that one the Aggies fell in blowout fashion. As for Utah Tech, they’re 9-10 so far following a loss to Grand Canyon on Wednesday. New Mexico State Aggies
New Mexico State lost to UTEP, UC Irvine, Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s, Kent State, Southern Utah and Sam Houston in their first 14 games. The Aggies lost to Stephen F. Austin, Cal Baptist, Seattle and TX-Arlington in the next four.
In the Thursday game versus Southern Utah, New Mexico State was drilled 58-38 in the first half. The Aggies didn’t get any closer on a 53-38 second-half deficit and lost 111-76. Xavier Pinson was tops in scoring with 17 points and four rebounds.
Utah Tech Trailblazers
Over on the Utah Tech side, they were 9-5 after 14 games with losses to Nevada, Washington, Arizona, North Dakota and Utah State in that time. The Trailblazers are 0-5 since then with losses to Utah Valley, Cal Baptist, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston and Grand Canyon.
Matched up against the Antelopes on Wednesday, the Trailblazers were down 41-37 going into the second half. Utah Tech kept the pace with 48 more points but lost 89-85. Isaiah Pope was the leading scorer on 25 points and four rebounds.

I’ll probably stick with Utah Tech. Also probably not going near it. The Trailblazers didn’t fare too badly against a good Grand Canyon team in their last outing, however they haven’t exactly played well lately. Utah Tech has lost five straight games with 60 or fewer points scored in three of those outings. That said, considering New Mexico State has been struggling lately themselves, I think the Trailblazers can bang out a cover/win. Should be a competitive game if nothing else.
