Grand Canyon Antelopes

Grand Canyon managed a 14-8 run over their first 22 games this year. The Antelopes hit a 4-3 run over their next seven outings, beating Stephen F. Austin, New Mexico State, Abilene Christian and Park Gilbert during that time.

In the Wednesday matchup versus Southern Utah, Grand Canyon held a 35-35 tie going into the second half. The Antelopes posted a 48-43 run in the second and took the win 83-78. Tops in scoring was Rayshon Harrison with 29 points and nine rebounds.

Utah Tech Trailblazers

Over on the Utah Tech side, they managed a 10-12 record over their first 22 outings. The Trailblazers hit a 2-5 run in the next seven with losses to Utah Valley, Seattle, Tarleton State, Southern Utah and TX-Arlington along the way.

Matched up against Seattle on Tuesday, the Trailblazers were up 56-30 by the break. Utah Tech outscored the Redhawks 37-26 from there and won easily 93-56. Isaiah Pope was the team’s leading scorer on 22 points and four rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably take a stab on Utah Tech here. The Trailblazers are coming off a great win over a pretty good Seattle team, however they’re still just 2-4 in the last six games. Utah Tech has been close in their recent losses though; just one of the four came by more than four points. These teams last met each other back on January 18 at GCU Arena. Grand Canyon took a 41-37 lead into halftime in that one and ended up winning 89-85. I like another fairly high-scoring and competitive matchup here with Utah Tech powering out the cover/win.
