The Citadel vs UNC Greensboro Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/4/23

The UNC Greensboro Spartans and the Citadel Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from McAlister Field House. UNC Greensboro is coming off a Thursday game versus Mercer. In that one the Spartans took a 20-point win. As for the Citadel, they played VMI in their Thursday matchup. The Bulldogs ended up falling by six points. UNC Greensboro Spartans 

UNC Greensboro posted a 9-7 run to start out the season, losing to Miami-FL, Towson, Hofstra, Stephen F. Austin, NC A&T, Arkansas and Eastern Kentucky. The Spartans hit a 5-2 run in the next seven with losses to Samford and Furman. 

In the Thursday matchup versus Mercer, the Spartans jumped out to a 41-21 halftime lead. UNC Greensboro kept the pace from there in a 69-49 victory. Mohammed Abdulsalam led the team with 15 points and 16 rebounds. 

The Citadel Bulldogs 

Over on the Citadel side, they only beat Presbyterian, Morris, New Orleans, IUPUI, Charleston Southern and Chattanooga in their first 16 games. The Bulldogs went 3-4 over the next seven with wins over Western Carolina (twice) and VMI. 

Matched up against VMI again on Thursday, the Bulldogs managed a 43-36 lead by halftime. The Citadel fell behind on a 39-26 second-half run however, and lost 75-69. Leading scorer Stephen Clark put up 24 points with eight rebounds.

I’ll stay with UNC Greensboro here. The Spartans are coming off a dominant win over Mercer, which was a nice bounce-back effort after a tepid loss to Furman last weekend. UNC Greensboro managed a win 70-60 the last time these teams met up back on January 19, and they’re on a solid 6-1 run right now. The Citadel will be in a more comfortable spot here, but considering the Bulldogs have given up 70 or more points in four straight games I like UNCG better cover-wise.
