The South Dakota Coyotes and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits meet Monday in Summit League college basketball action from Sanford Pentagon. South Dakota is 19-11 this year. The Coyotes beat UMKC in tourney action Sunday. As for South Dakota State, they’re 28-4 on the season and coming off a tournament win over Omaha. South Dakota had a rough 3-6 stretch going early this calendar year and a 1-3 run in February but otherwise the Coyotes have done well in the win column. South Dakota has won six of their last seven games, including a tournament victory versus Kansas City on Sunday.
In the Sunday matchup versus UMKC, the Coyotes shot 48.1 percent from the field with 40 total rebounds and 13 team assists in a 74-61 victory. Leading scorer Tasos Kamateros put up 15 points with 11 rebounds and two assists.
Over on the South Dakota State side, they lost to Alabama, Washington, Idaho and Missouri State in their first 13 games. It’s been an excellent 19-game win streak since then however, with the latest victory coming over Omaha on Saturday.
In the tourney matchup versus Omaha, the Jackrabbits hit a 48-42 advantage in the first half and a 39-37 run in the second on the way to an 87-79 victory. Tops in scoring was Douglas Wilson on 22 points with seven rebounds.
The Jackrabbits are 2-6 ATS in their last eight neutral-site games and the over is 4-1 in their last five Monday games. Meanwhile. South Dakota is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 Monday games and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
PICK: I’m probably staying with South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits have had very little trouble scoring during this win streak. They’ve hit 79 or more points in 18 of those 19 games, and 70 in the outlier. South Dakota State shouldn’t have many issues putting up points in this one.
As for South Dakota, they lost both regular-season matchups with the Jackrabbits, falling 84-65 and 89-79. The Coyotes have done a great job offensively over the past several games and should keep the pace most of the way here.
