Utah Valley Wolverines
Utah Valley posted a solid 14-4 run over their first 18 outings this year. The Wolverines have gone 6-2 over their last eight games, beating Abilene Christian, Grand Canyon, New Mexico State, Utah Tech, California Baptist and Southern Utah in that time.
In the Southern Utah matchup last weekend, the Wolverines were up 48-33 in the locker room. Utah Valley was outscored 50-42 from there but still won it 90-83. Le’Tre Darthard topped the team on 31 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
Seattle Redhawks
Over on the Seattle side, they managed a 16-4 stretch to kick off the year. The Redhawks have stumbled since then with a 2-5 run. The losses in that time were to Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Abilene Christian, New Mexico State and Cal Baptist.
Matched up against Cal Baptist on Wednesday, the Redhawks were drilled 41-28 in the first half. Seattle didn’t get any closer on a 43-35 deficit from there and lost 84-63. Riley Grigsby put up 23 points and five rebounds to lead the team.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably stay with Utah Valley in this one. The Wolverines are looking pretty good over this 6-1 stretch and they’re scoring well lately. Utah Valley has hit 67 or more points in a whopping 22 straight games and should be able to hang a nice total in this one as well. We had a pretty close game the last time these teams met up, though; Seattle took an 85-80 road win at UCCU Center back on January 14. I like Utah Valley to get some revenge in this one with a dominant cover/win, but I’m probably staying away in reality.
