Weber State Wildcats

Weber State managed an up-and-down 8-10 run across their first 18 games this year. The Wildcats are 5-3 since then however, beating Portland State, Sacramento State, Idaho, Idaho State and Montana State in that time.

On Saturday versus Montana, Weber State took a 37-31 deficit into the locker room. The Wildcats hit a 38-37 run in the second half and ended up losing 74-69. Dillon Jones posted 21 points with eight rebounds in the defeat.

Sacramento State Hornets

Over on the Sacramento State side, they hit an 11-7 run to start out the year. The Hornets have since gone just 1-7 however, losing to Idaho State, Weber State, Montana State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado.

Matched up against Northern Colorado, Sacramento State was down 35-25 at the break. The Hornets didn’t get any closer on a 35-29 second half and ended up losing 70-54. Callum McRae led the team with a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to stay with Weber State. Probably avoiding this one, though; it should be a very competitive game and you could make a case either way. That said, the Wildcats were able to eke out a 50-48 win at Dee Events Center on January 21 the last time these teams met up. This one should be close as well, but given Sacramento State’s current 1-7 stretch it’s hard to trust the Hornets on anything. Sacramento State has just 109 combined points over their last two outings, but I like them to take a step forward scoring-wise here. Should be a good game.
