The Northeastern Huskies and the Princeton Tigers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Copper Box Arena. Northeastern is 1-4 overall this year and coming off a win over Manhattan. As for Princeton, they’re 3-2 on the season. The Tigers beat Army in their Thursday matchup. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Northeastern got off to a rough start this year. The Huskies lost 72-63 to Boston U in their opener then fell 89-65 versus Providence. The next pair were also losses, 70-69 versus Harvard and 76-48 against Syracuse.

The Huskies finally got their first win of the year on Thursday versus Manhattan. Northeastern needed overtime to get there, but eventually emerged victorious 69-67. Tops in scoring was Joe Pridgen with 20 points, and Coleman Stucke added 19 points.
Over on the Princeton side, they came out of the gate with consecutive losses to Hofstra and Navy this year. The Tigers were able to rebound with a 94-64 win over UMBC, then Princeton took out Marist 62-55 last weekend.

Princeton kept their run going on Thursday with a win over Army. The Tigers held a slim one-point lead at halftime and managed to power out a 41-34 victory. Matt Alloco doubled up with 15 points and 12 boards in that one, and Blake Peters added 15 points.

PICK: I’m likely going to stay with Princeton. The Tigers have looked pretty good over this three-game win streak, and they’ve scored 73 or more points in four of five games so far this year. Princeton shot a pretty solid 42.6 percent from the field in the win over Army and won the rebounding battle 41-36 (8-5 offensive).

As for Northeastern, they turned in a gutsy performance versus Manhattan on Thursday for their first win of the season. The Huskies haven’t hit 70 points yet this year however, so it’s hard to imagine them keeping up in this one.
