Portland State vs Idaho Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/2/23

The Idaho Vandals and the Portland State Vikings meet Thursday in college basketball action from Stott Center. Idaho is 8-15 so far this year. The Vandals lost to Idaho State in their last game on Saturday. As for Portland State, they’re 9-13 overall and fresh off a loss to Montana. Idaho Vandals

The Vandals started out their season at 6-10 with wins over Walla Walla, Northern Illinois, Pacific, North Dakota, Northwest Indian and CSUN. Idaho is just 2-5 since then with wins over Montana State and Northern Arizona. 

Back on Saturday versus Idaho State, Idaho scored 37 points in the first half, 44 in the second and 10 in overtime during a tough loss 95-91. Leading scorer Isaac Jones doubled up on 27 points and 14 rebounds in the defeat. 

Portland State Vikings 

Over on the Portland State side, they beat Oregon State (twice), Evergreen State, Portland Bible College, Air Force, Cal Baptist and Idaho in their first 16 games. The Vikings are 2-4 in their last six with wins over Northern AZ and Idaho State. 

Matched up against Montana on Saturday, the Vikings were down 38-27 by the break. Portland State hit a 40-35 run in the second half but still lost 73-67. Cameron Parker was tops in scoring on 21 points and 10 assists. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to stick with Portland State. Probably not going near it, though; there’s not a ton of intrigue here since both teams are struggling. In any case, Portland State managed a road win 74-58 at ICCU Arena the last time these teams met up back on January 7. The Vikings had a slow first half in that one but hit a 47-28 run in the second on the way to the victory. Portland State has been a mixed bag over the last six games but if they can replicate that offensive performance and finish in the 70-point range I think they’ll be fine cover-wise.
