Ohio vs Stetson 12/17/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Stetson Hatters and the Ohio Bobcats meet Saturday in college basketball action from Ohio University Convocation Center. Stetson enters this matchup at 5-4 overall. The Hatters lost to Charleston in their last outing. As for Ohio, they’re 5-5 on the season after a loss to Florida. Stetson opened the season with three straight wins, then lost consecutive outings to Niagara and Campbell. The Hatters are 2-2 since then with wins over Johnson University (FL) and Webber International alongside losses versus Florida and Charleston. 

In the Charleston matchup back on Wednesday, the Hatters took a 30-16 deficit into the break. Stetson hit a 44-35 run in the second half but couldn’t catch up in a 65-60 loss. Josh Smith led the team on 11 points. 

Over on the Ohio side, they lost three of their first four to start out the season then hit wins over Eastern Illinois, Alabama State and Cincinnati-Clermont. The Bobcats are 1-2 since then with losses to Marshall and Florida. 

Matched up against Florida, the Bobcats were drilled in the first half 42-18. Ohio didn’t get any better from there with a 40-30 deficit in an 82-48 defeat. AJ Brown scored 14 points, and Dwight Wilson chipped in 13 points and five boards. 

PICK: I’m going to lean Ohio in this one but staying away. We should have a pretty competitive matchup on our hands if both teams play to their capabilities. Ohio has suffered two rough losses in their last three games, however they’ve been playing fairly well against comparable teams this year. Stetson is in something of the same boat; they can score very well in the right matchup. I like this one to be a fairly high-scoring affair and a fun one to watch.
