The Maine Black Bears and the Ohio State Buckeyes meet in college basketball action from the Value City Arena on Wednesday night.
The Maine Black Bears will look to rebound from an 87-55 loss to Akron last time out. Kellen Tynes leads the Black Bears in scoring with 14.6 PPG along with 4.5 RPG and 3.8 APG while Gedi Juozapaitis has 13.2 PPG with 3 RPG and Peter Filipovity has 11.2 PPG with a team-high 6 RPG to lead the Black Bears on the glass and to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Maine up to this point in the season. Jaden Clayton also has a team-high 4.5 APG to lead the Black Bears in the assist department as well this season. As a team, Maine is averaging 71.2 PPG on 48.2% shooting from the field, 32.9% from three and 70.6% from the foul line this season.
The Ohio State Buckeyes will hope to bounce back from an 89-84 OT loss to North Carolina in their last game. Maine is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 road games against a team with a winning home record and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss by 20 or more points. Ohio State is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games against a team with a road winning percentage below .400 and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.
I think there’s always a concern with these true David vs. Goliath matchups as you have to wonder how seriously Ohio State takes Maine here. That being said, I think the Buckeyes are frustrated after falling apart late against North Carolina, and I think that Ohio State ends up using Maine as a punching bag to take out some frustration after that loss. Maine got rung up by Akron and I don’t see how it gets any better here. Give me the Buckeyes big.
