The Kansas State Wildcats and the Nebraska Cornhuskers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Pinnacle Bank Arena. Kansas State is 6-3 so far and fresh off a win over Green Bay. As for Nebraska, they’re 5-6 on the year. The Cornhuskers lost to Auburn in their last matchup. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Kansas State went 5-2 in their first seven games, taking out Florida A&M, Omaha, North Dakota, Albany and Wichita State along the way. In the last pair, the Wildcats lost to Marquette and beat Green Bay.

Last weekend against Green Bay, the Wildcats scored 46 points in the first half and 36 more from there in an eventual 82-64 win. Leading scorer Markquis Nowell put up 22 points, while Mark Smith doubled up on 14 points and 10 boards.

Over on the Nebraska side, they went 5-2 in their first seven as well with wins over Sam Houston, Idaho State, Southern U, Tennessee State and South Dakota. Since then it’s been losses to NC State, Indiana, Michigan and Auburn.

In the Auburn matchup last Saturday, the Cornhuskers had trouble keeping up. Nebraska was down 45-28 at the break and ended up falling 99-68. CJ Wilcher led the team on 17 points, and Derrick Walker doubled on 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Nebraska is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss and the over is 5-0 in the last five after an ATS loss. The over is 5-1 in the Cornhuskers’ last six at home.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six road games. The under is 4-1 in Kansas State’s last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Kansas State here. The Wildcats have been a little inconsistent when it comes to scoring lately, but when they’re on point in a comparable matchup K-State is tough to beat. They’ve hit 71 or more points in three of their last five games, going 4-1 in that stretch.

As for Nebraska, they’ve had to go up against some relatively tough teams in their last four games and haven’t been able to gain much traction. This should be a fun matchup however, and it’s the first time these teams have met since way back in 2011. Should be a completive game, but I like Kansas State better on the potential cover/win.
