Montana State vs Weber State 1/14/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Weber State Wildcats and the Montana State Bobcats meet Saturday in college basketball action from Worthington Arena. Weber State is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Montana. In that one the Wildcats eked out a two-point win. As for Montana State, they played Idaho State in their Thursday game. The Bobcats ended up winning by 13 points. Weber State was just 5-7 through 12 games this year, beating Western State, Abilene Christian, St. Martin, Cal Poly and Utah State in that time. The Wildcats hit a 2-2 run after that with wins over Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. 

In the Thursday game versus Montana, Weber State was up 28-25 at the break. The Wildcats scored another 31 points in the second and hung on for the 59-57 win. Dillon Jones was tops with 17 points and 21 rebounds in the victory. 

Over on the Montana State side, they were 7-5 after 12 games with losses to Grand Canyon, Oregon, UNCG, Quinnipiac and Middle Tennessee. The Bobcats were 3-2 over the next five with wins over Idaho, Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. 

Matched up against Idaho State on Thursday, Montana State managed a 39-34 run in the first half and a 42-34 advantage from there in an 81-68 victory. RaeQuan Battle led the team on 19 points, and Darius Brown added 18 points. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Montana State. The Bobcats are currently riding a three-game win streak, and they’ve hit 67 or more points in five straight games (a 4-1 stretch). As for Weber State, they can score pretty well in the right matchups themselves. The Wildcats have hit 74 or more points in five of their last eight outings. I like this one to be a fairly high total as well in an eventual Montana State cover. Should be an interesting matchup.
