The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders meet Thursday in college basketball action from Murphy Center. Louisiana Tech is fresh off a loss to Sam Houston that dropped the Bulldogs to 10-6 on the year. As for Middle Tennessee, they’re 6-9 overall after a win over Reinhardt last week. Let’s get into our Louisiana Tech vs. Middle Tennessee prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
LA Tech Bulldogs
Louisiana Tech managed to win nine of their first 11 games this year, falling to only Colorado State and New Mexico during that run. The Bulldogs are a sketchy 1-4 since then however, with a win over Dallas Christian alongside losses to Saint Louis, Seattle U, Grand Canyon and Sam Houston.
In the Sam Houston matchup on Saturday, the Bulldogs went into the second half with a three-point deficit. Louisiana Tech didn’t get any closer on a 38-37 stretch from there and lost 81-77. Tops in scoring during the losing effort was Tahlik Chavez on 20 points and four assists.
Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders
Over on the Blue Raiders’ side, they started out on a decent 3-1 run this year but since have lost eight of their last 11 games. Those defeats have come versus UAB, UIC, Ohio, Wofford, Belmont, Saint Mary’s, Southern Utah and Murray State. Middle Tennessee beat Reinhardt in their last game, though.
Back on January 3 versus Reinhardt, the Blue Raiders didn’t have too many issues getting a win. Middle Tennessee opened with a 47-21 first half, then hit a 37-26 run from there in an 84-47 result. Jalen Jordan paced the team with his 15 points, five assists and four rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE LOUISIANA TECH VS MIDDLE TENNESSEE PREDICTION
I’ll stay with Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs aren’t playing that great lately, but this is a good chance to right the ship. Louisiana Tech shot pretty well (43.9 percent) versus Sam Houston in their last matchup, but did cough up 14 turnovers that led to 17 points for the Bearkats. The Bulldogs have hit 70 points in seven straight games and should reach that threshold in this one if all goes well.
As for Middle Tennessee, they had been at 65 points or below in four straight (all losses) before their win over Reinhardt. LA Tech should be able to keep the Raiders at bay in this one, and I like the Bulldogs to cover.
