The Siena Saints and the Marist Red Foxes meet Sunday in college basketball action from McCann Arena. Siena is coming off a Friday matchup versus Iona. In that one the Saints managed a 17-point victory. As for Marist, they played Rider in their Friday game. The Foxes went on to fall by 16 points. Siena Saints
Siena was a decent 11-5 over their first 16 games, losing to Army, Harvard, Ole Miss, Georgetown and Delaware along the way. The Saints hit a 2-2 run in the next four outings, taking losses to Canisius and Fairfield.
In the Friday matchup versus Iona, Siena was down 36-33 by the break. The Saints mounted an excellent 37-17 run in the second half and took the comeback victory 70-53. Michael Baer doubled up with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the win.
Marist Red Foxes
Over on the Marist side, they beat American, Bucknell, Columbia, Maine, Mount St. Mary’s, Canisius and Niagara in their first 16 games. The Foxes would then take losses to Saint Peter’s and Mount St. Mary’s in the next pair.
Matched up against Rider on Friday, the Foxes held a 30-29 edge going into halftime. Marist was outscored 39-22 from there and lost it 68-52. Leading the team in scoring was Patrick Gardner with 15 points and six rebounds.

I’ll probably stick with Siena. The Saints are 9-2 over their last 11 games and scoring pretty well in that time. Siena has 68 or more points in eight of the nine victories in that stretch, and they’re coming off a nice bounce-back performance against Iona. As for Marist, they went flat in the second half of Friday’s Rider game and they’ve now lost three straight. The Foxes have scored 57 or fewer points in each of those outings, and they’ll have a tough time covering if that trend keeps up.
