Louisiana Tech vs UAB 1/14/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UAB Blazers and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Thomas Assembly Center. UAB is 12-5 overall this year. The Blazers lost to Western Kentucky in their last game. As for Louisiana Tech, they’re 10-7 following a loss to North Texas on Wednesday. UAB went 10-2 over their first 12 games, losing to only Toledo and West Virginia during that time. The Blazers would then beat UTEP and UTSA before three straight losses to Florida Atlantic, FIU and Western Kentucky. 

Matched up against Western Kentucky on Wednesday, the Blazers trailed 32-30 going into the second half. UAB kept the pace from there but still lost 80-78. Jordan Walker posted 28 points and KJ Buffen doubled up on 14 points and 11 rebounds. 

Over on the Louisiana Tech side, they were 7-5 after 12 games, falling to Texas Tech, Louisiana, Wyoming, Stephen F. Austin and UTEP. The Bulldogs are 3-2 since then with wins over UTSA, Rice and UTEP. 

On Wednesday versus North Texas, Louisiana Tech took a 36-18 deficit into halftime. The Bulldogs made a run on a 47-31 second half but fell short in a 67-65 loss. Isaiah Crawford was the leading scorer on 25 points with five rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to try Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs were overwhelmed in the first half against a pretty good North Texas team on Wednesday, shooting 42.9 percent from the field with a 28-25 rebounding deficit. Louisiana Tech has been competitive in their losses over the last eight games, though. As for UAB, they’ve posted 76 or more points in eight straight games but they’re also giving up a lot of scoring on the other side. If the Bulldogs can get their offense going early in this one I think they’ll be in line for an eventual cover/win.
