Lafayette vs Army 1/2/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Army Black Knights and the Lafayette Leopards meet Monday in college basketball action from Kirby Sports Center. Army is currently 7-7 overall. The Knights beat Lehigh in their last game. Army has managed wins over Keystone, Siena, Merchant Marine, Wagner, NJIT, Central CT State and Lehigh this year. The losses have come to Stonehill, William & Mary, Radford, Princeton, Manhattan, Rhode Island and Stony Brook. 

Back on Friday versus Lehigh, Army posted a 48-32 advantage by halftime. The Knights had to scramble in the second half but ultimately too the win 80-78. Ethan Roberts was the top team scorer on 23 points with three boards. 

Over on the Lafayette side, they’ve got wins over Central CT State and La Salle so far. The losses have come versus Miami, St. John’s, Saint Joseph’s, UMBC, Penn, Penn State, Drexel, Cornell, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Columbia and American. 

Matched up against American on Friday, the Leopards were drilled 32-18 in the first half. Lafayette posted a 29-28 advantage from there in a 60-47 loss. CJ Fulton led the team on 12 points with six assists. 

PICK: I’m going with Army. The Knights got into a little trouble in the second half of their last game versus Lehigh, but to their credit they stuck out the win. Army is 5-2 in their last seven games, scoring 66 or more points in five of those. As for Lafayette, it’s been a tough run so far this year, but on the bright side the Leopards have scored 63 or more points in three of their last six. All things considered however, I don’t think Lafayette will be able to keep up the cover pace for long if Army is playing well here.
