The Eastern Kentucky Colonels and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Pete Mathews Coliseum. Eastern Kentucky is 12-16 on the year so far. The Colonels lost to Central Arkansas in their last game. As for Jacksonville State, they’re sitting at 18-9 and coming off a win over Bellarmine. Eastern Kentucky started out the year at 5-1 but ultimately slipped back under .500 by mid-January. The Colonels have flirted with that number quite a bit since but haven’t gotten past it. Eastern Kentucky fell to 12-16 with a loss to Central Arkansas in their last game.
In the matchup versus Central Arkansas on Saturday, the Colonels were blown out 26-40 in the first half. Eastern Kentucky scored 50 points from there but still lost 83-76. Michael Moreno was the leading scorer on 19 points with seven boards.
Over on the Jacksonville State side, their year began sketchy at 5-6, but the Gamecocks have lost jus three games since then. Following their latest defeat by Central Arkansas, the Gamecocks took wins over Lipscomb and Bellarmine.
Matched up against Bellarmine on Sunday, the Gamecocks held a 45-27 lead by the break. Jacksonville State was able to hang on for the 82-67 victory. Jalen Gibbs was the leading team scorer on 22 points with four assists.
The Gamecocks are 0-4 ATS in their last four at home and 17-7 ATS in their last 24 after a straight-up win. The under is 4-1 in Jacksonville State’s last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks had a rough 1-3 stretch earlier this month but they’ve picked things back up over the last two games. These teams last met up back on January 15, and the Gamecocks took a nice 76-65 road victory. Eastern Kentucky has been scoring pretty well lately so I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one as a high-total game. I still like the Gamecocks better on a cover, though.
