The Lafayette Leopards and the Holy Cross Crusaders meet Monday in college basketball action from Hart Center. Lafayette played Lehigh in their last game on Saturday. In that one the Leopards lost by two points. As for Holy Cross, they’re coming off a Saturday game versus Navy. The Crusaders would go on to fall by 18 points. Lafayette Leopards

Lafayette hit the skids on a 2-14 run out of the gate this year. The only wins came over Central CT State and La Salle. The Leopards got better in the next eight on a 5-3 run with losses to only Lehigh, Colgate and Navy.

In the Lehigh rematch on Saturday, Lafayette took a 33-21 deficit into the second half. The Leopards hit a 43-33 advantage from there but still lost 66-64. Josh Rivera was the high scorer on the team with 23 points and nine rebounds.

Holy Cross Crusaders

Over on the Holy Cross side, they didn’t do much better over their first 16 games with a 5-11 start. The Crusaders would go 3-5 in the next eight games with losses to Lehigh, Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh again and Army.

Matched up against Navy on Saturday, the Crusaders kept pace in the first half with a 30-29 deficit. Holy Cross was plastered 56-39 in the second half though, and lost 86-68. Gerald Gates was tops on 19 points and four rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Lafayette. Also probably not touching this one, though. The last time these teams met up back on January 14 from Kirby Sports Center, the Leopards powered out a 62-48 victory thanks to 35 first-half points. Lafayette has been a mixed bag scoring-wise since then, and they’ve only hit 70 points once in the last eight games. Still, Holy Cross should be within the Leopards’ wheelhouse and I think they can manage a cover if Lafayette plays to their abilities. You could likely make a case either way, though.

Andrew's Free Pick: Lafayette Leopards -2.5
