The James Madison Dukes and the Hofstra Pride meet in college basketball action from the Mack Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The James Madison Dukes will try to build on a 76-71 win over Northeastern last time out. Vado Morse leads the Dukes in scoring with 15.6 PPG along with 2.4 APG while Takai Molson has 12.3 PPG with 5.2 RPG and a team-high 2.6 APG this season. Charles Falden has 10.6 PPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for JMU this season while Justin Amadi has 9.8 PPG and a team-high 5.7 RPG to lead the Dukes on the glass. As a team, James Madison is averaging 78.4 PPG on 47.7% shooting from the field, 35.4% from three and 70.2% from the foul line while allowing 72 PPG on 44.7% shooting from the field and 33.8% from three this season.

The Hofstra Pride will be coming in on back-to-back losses after a 78-68 loss to Towson in their last game. Aaron Estrada leads the Pride in scoring and assists with 17.3 PPG and 5 APG with 5.5 RPG while Zach Cooks is right behind with 14.9 PPG with 3.4 APG. Jalen Ray has 14.1 PPG with 3.7 RPG and Darlinstone Dubar has 12.1 PPG with 5.2 RPG and Omar Silverio has 11.4 PPG as well to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Hofstra so far this season. Abayomi Iyola also has 7.9 PPG with a matching 8.3 RPG to lead the Pride on the glass up to this point in the season. As a team, Hofstra is averaging 77.1 PPG on 46.5% shooting from the field, 33.2% from three and 80.6% from the foul line while allowing 72 PPG on 44.3% shooting from the field and 36.4% from three this season.

James Madison is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a win and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a win. Hofstra is 25-9-2 ATS in their last 37 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 and 37-15-2 ATS in their last 54 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games following a double-digit loss at home.

I get the allure of points with a team like James Madison here, but the Dukes are failing to cover a lot of their games right now and I’m starting to think that part of that is the tea realizing there’s no conference tournament for them at the end of the season with their impending transition to the Sun Belt. Hofstra’s not a team I’m running to the window to back on most nights, but they’re still the better team here and the more trustworthy team given the state of the Dukes right now. Give me Hofstra laying the points here.
