The San Francisco Dons and the Gonzaga Bulldogs meet Monday in West Coast Tournament college basketball action from Orleans Arena. San Francisco is 20-13 overall so far. The Dons beat Santa Clara in their Saturday tournament matchup. As for Gonzaga, they’re sitting at 26-5 overall following a blowout win over Chicago State on Wednesday. San Francisco Dons
San Francisco hit a 15-11 record through their first 26 games this year, then closed the season on a 3-2 stretch. The wins in that time came versus Pepperdine, Pacific and Portland. The Dons beat Pacific 80-63 in the first round of the tournament on Friday.
In Saturday’s game versus Santa Clara, San Francisco scored 30 points in the first half, 44 in the second and 19 points across two overtime periods during a 93-87 win. Khalil Shabazz led the team with 38 points and seven rebounds.
Gonzaga Bulldogs
Over on the Gonzaga side, they were sitting at 19-5 by the 24-game mark this year. The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with wins over San Francisco, BYU, LMU, Pepperdine, San Diego, Saint Mary’s and Chicago State in succession.
Back on Wednesday versus Chicago State, the Bulldogs rolled to a 42-28 halftime edge. Gonzaga scored another 62 points in the second half and easily took the win 104-65. Drew Timme scored 17 points to top the team and Nolan Hickman added 15 points with four boards.

I might take a stab on San Francisco here. The Dons are looking good through two games of this tournament so far, and they’re fresh off a nice OT win versus a good Santa Clara squad. San Francisco has scored 76 or more points in each win during this 5-1 stretch. Gonzaga won both meetings between these teams this year. The first was a 77-75 road win on January 5 then came a 99-81 victory on February 9 at McCarthey Athletic Center. The Dons were outscored 60-40 during the first half of that second meeting, so they’ll want to get off to a good start there. If San Francisco can find their groove quickly I think they’ll have a nice shot at a cover.
