The Mocs hit a .500 run at 13-13 over their first 26 games this year. Chattanooga finished off the regular season on a 2-3 stretch with losses to UNC Greensboro, Samford and Wofford. The Mocs would then beat VMI and Samford in the first two games of the Southern Conference Tournament.
In Sunday’s tournament game versus Wofford. Chattanooga put up a 35-34 advantage in the first half. The Mocs hit a 39-28 advantage in the second and took the win 74-62. Leading scorer Jake Stephens put up 25 points with seven rebounds.

Over on the Furman side, they went 18-6 over their first 24 games this year. The Paladins finished off the year on a 6-1 stretch with wins over Wofford, VMI, Western Carolina, East Tennessee State, Mercer and Samford, then beat Mercer in tournament activity on Saturday.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably stay with Furman, even considering the rough second half in the overtime win versus Western Carolina on Sunday. I could probably go either way though; this should be a very interesting matchup and the line seems pretty inviting for Chattanooga. The Paladins have now won five straight games, posting 70 or more points in each outing. These teams have met twice this year, with the Paladins taking wins in each. Furman won 77-69 on the road back on January 18, and again 79-58 on February 1 at Timmons Arena. Chattanooga has caught fire in the tournament with 74 or more points in three straight. This should be a fun game to watch, but I’m likely leaning toward the Paladins.
