The UIC Flames and the Fordham Rams meet Saturday in college basketball action from Rose Hill Gym. UIC is currently 2-1 on the year. The Flames beat Jacksonville State in their last game. UIC didn’t have any trouble with Trinity Christian College in their opener this year, scoring 41 points in each half for an 82-48 win. The Flames weren’t so fortunate versus Loyola in game two however. That one was a 70-63 loss.
In game three versus Jacksonville State, the Flames were able to get back into the win column. UIC was up five by the break and managed to power out a 67-60 victory. Skylear Potter led the team on 12 points and eight rebounds.
Over on the Fordham side, their year kicked off with a matchup versus Dartmouth. The Rams scored 45 in the second half there in an 88-74 win. Game two was a tough matchup versus Arkansas however, and Fordham fell 74-48.
On Tuesday versus New Hampshire, the Rams powered out a 40-30 halftime lead. Fordham kept it going from there with a 39-31 run in a 79-61 victory. Tops ins coring was Darius Quisenberry with 17 points, and Khalid Moore added 16 points.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Fordham. Probably staying away from this one, though; I really could go either way. The Rams were drilled by a very good Arkansas team in game two but bounced back for a nice performance against New Hampshire. Fordham shot 44.4 percent from the field with 42 rebounds in that one. UIC is in much the same situation with just the one loss, and I think the Flames will keep pace until the end here. Should be a fun one to watch.
