NC State Wolfpack
The Wolfpack were 13-7 through their first 20 games this year, falling to BYU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Syracuse along the way. NC State is 4-3 since then with wins over Miami, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Boston College during that stretch.
In their latest victory over Boston College on Saturday, the Wolfpack jumped out to a 38-26 edge by halftime. NC State kept the pace from there and powered out a victory 81-70 in the end. Leading the way was DJ Burns with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Florida State Seminoles
Over on the Seminoles’ side, they managed a 12-7 start to the season over their first 19 outings. Florida State is just 2-6 in the last eight, though. The losses in that stretch came versus North Carolina, Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke and Clemson (with two wins over Boston College otherwise).
Matched up against Clemson over the weekend, the Seminoles went into the second half down by 10 points. Florida State was outscored 36-35 the rest of the way during a 74-63 defeat. Tops in scoring was Jamir Watkins with 18 points, eight rebounds and one steal.
ANDREW’S FREE NC STATE VS FLORIDA STATE PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward Florida State, but you could argue this one either way. The Seminoles weren’t quite able to keep pace with Clemson in their last outing, hitting just 36.9 percent from the field and 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from outside. Florida State has given up 74 or more points in five straight games, a 1-4 stretch.
As for NC State, they’ve been giving up some healthy points totals lately as well—70 or more in four straight (a 2-2 run). This one’s probably going to be a high-scoring affair as well if both teams are on point. I like FSU to power out the cover/win at home, but it’s a coin flip.
