Clemson Tigers

Clemson was 13-3 at the 16-game mark this year. The losses in that time came to South Carolina, Iowa and Loyola IL. The Tigers are 4-1 in their last five games with wins over Louisville, Duke, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech.

Matched up against Georgia Tech on Tuesday, the Tigers took a 37-28 lead into the second half. Clemson kept it up with a 35-23 advantage from there in a 72-51 win. Leading scorer PJ Hall posted 17 points with seven rebounds.

Florida State Seminoles

Over on the Florida State side, they were 5-11 through 16 games with wins over Mercer, Louisville, USC Upstate, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech. The Seminoles are 2-3 since then with losses to Wake Forest, Virginia and Miami-FL.

In the Hurricanes game on Tuesday, the Seminoles were drilled 54-28 in the first half. Florida State got a little closer in the second with 35 points but ended up with an 86-63 blowout loss. Caleb Mills led the way on 12 points and four rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Clemson in this one. The Tigers took care of business against Georgia Tech in their last game, muddying the memory of an 87-77 loss to Wake Forest and an unconvincing one-point win over Virginia Tech in their previous two outings. Clemson is going to have to keep their foot on the gas pedal in order to cover here; Florida State is 2-1 in their last three games with 71 or more points scored in both wins. So long as Clemson doesn’t ease up in garbage time or fall apart completely, I think the Tigers will be fine cover-wise.
