Elon vs UNC Greensboro 12/3/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UNC Greensboro Spartans and the Elon Phoenix meet Saturday in college basketball action from Schar Center. UNC Greensboro is sitting at 3-5 so far this year. The Spartans lost to NC A&T in their last game. As for Elon, they’re 1-7 on the season and fell to High Point in their last outing. UNC Greensboro went 3-2 over their first five games, beating JWU-Charlotte, UMBC and Montana State along the way. The Spartans hit a losing streak after that with losses to HOfstra, Stephen F. Austin and NC A&T. 

In the NC A&T matchup on Wednesday, the Spartans held a 34-33 edge at the break. UNC Greensboro was outscored 40-22 in the second half and fell 73-56. Mohammed Abdulsalam doubled up for the Spartans with 12 points and 14 rebounds. 

Over on the Elon side, they won their opener versus Erskine then lost to East Tennessee State, Harvard, North Dakota, NC State, Jacksonville State, Radford and High Point over the next seven outings. 

On Wednesday in the High Point game, Elon was down 41-31 at the break and didn’t get any closer in an 84-70 loss. Max Mackinnon was tops on the team with 24 points and 12 boards. Sam Sherry added 19 points and nine rebounds. 

PICK: I suppose I’m taking UNC Greensboro, but staying away. There’s not much to get excited about in this one. That said, the Spartans have been in a scoring slump over the last three games with no more than 58 points in any of them. UNC Greensboro can score when the matchup is right; they’ve hit 76 or more in there games this year. This should be a favorable game for the Spartan offense; Elon has given up 69 or more points in each of the last seven games. I wouldn’t be surprised to see both teams hit 70-plus points, actually.
